Iron golems are power mobs and will do a lot of damage to you if they can get close enough to hit you. An easy way to kill them would be to build a simple tower of 3 blocks straight up and use a bow to shoot them until they’re defeated.

When killed an iron golem will drop:
2-4 iron ingots

0-2 poppies

Killing an iron golem will decrease your popularity with its village. Using the looting enchantment won’t increase the drop amounts. 

How to Heal Iron Golems

Iron golems can be healed by giving them an iron ingot. This restores 12.5 hearts per ingot.t

The more cracks an iron golem has the more damage it has taken, and when it is fully healed all the cracks will have disappeared.

Will an Iron Golem Stay With You?  

Iron golems stay in the village they spawned in and won’t leave the borders of that village. However, they can be leashed and lead around beyond the village.
