Minecraft Frogs: Everything you need to know

Minecraft Frogs

Brown Frog

Frogs are a neutral mob in Minecraft and can be found naturally in the swamp or Mangrove swamp biomes. They come in three different colors: green in cold biomes, white in warm biomes, and brown in average biomes.

Taming

You can get frogs to follow you by holding a slime ball, or using a lead rope. Beyond that though frogs cannot be tamed.

Breeding

White Frog

Frogs can be bred by feeding them slime balls. Once two frogs have hearts one will go to a nearby water block and lay frogspawn which hatches into tadpoles after a while. A while after that the tadpoles will grow into full frogs.

The color of the frog comes from the biome the tadpoles were raised in. Using a bucket you can gather tadpoles and move them to the biome you want to get specific colored frogs.

Green Frog

Usefulness

Frogs can eat both small slimes and small magma cubes. When a slime eats a magma cube it will drop a frog light. Brown frogs will drop an ochre frog light. Green frogs drop a verdant frog light and white frogs drop a pearlescent frog light.
