Library Content Acquisitions

This project included physical and digital content acquisitions. Everything from selecting to the ordering, invoicing, receiving, and end of year financial reporting.

Selecting

The Challenge

Modernizing the library procurement process. With a heavy focus on efficiency, the goal was a comprehensive solution designed to streamline the selection, ordering, and management of both physical and digital content. Tailored for librarians, this tool handles every step of the acquisition process, from initial selection through to end-of-year financial reporting.

The Project

This product was built with tight collaboration with the largest consortia of libraries in Australia. The South Australian Public Library Network (SAPLN) serves over 150 different libraries across the province of South Australia.

Working closely with the product manager and engineers, I was in charge of designing, prototyping, presenting designs to the SAPLN board, and usability testing.

This contract took place over the course of years, and the product continues to be developed further as additional customers use the product.

The Results

At our annual customer conference

“My libraries using BLUEcloud Acquisitions were shocked at how easy it was. AND I had the most change-reluctant staff gush about BCAcq Receiving."

- Melissa Klein an Integrated Library Solutions Specialist at Winnefox Library System which serves serve a population of over 325,000 residents in Wisconsin.

An email post customer visit from the Acquisitions Product Manager

"For the training, there has been lots and lots of positive feedback. On multiple occasions, the staff at SAPLN being trained commented on how easy BC Acq is to use, how intuitive it is. These comments are also supported by the training rating results we received after each training session. The participants were asked to rate the training. On a scale of 1-5 (5= exceptional, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = satisfactory, 1 = unsatisfactory), 60% rated it at 5, and 40% rated it at 4. That means 100% rated it either exceptional or very good.
